Housing markets attracting—or losing—investors, as illustrated by 2 charts
ResiClub, in collaboration with Parcl Labs, provided insights into the changing landscapes of single-family home investments across major U.S. metropolitan areas. Using new data from Parcl Labs, ResiClub illustrated how the share of single-family homes owned by investors has shifted significantly from March 2021 to March 2024. The analysis identified cities like Memphis, Atlanta, and Birmingham where investor ownership increased, suggesting a trend towards more affordable and potentially profitable markets. Conversely, high-cost areas such as San Francisco and San Jose saw a notable decline in investor interest, likely due to rising mortgage rates and reduced cash flow opportunities in these markets.
